What Makes Kelton Different? You wouldn’t know it from an initial visit but Kelton is unique for being the only parent-governed, parent-funded nursery in the Merseyside area. We are a non profit-making organisation and a registered charity. That means that while we have a skilled professional management team like any other nursery, there’s no-one siphoning off the profits. Every penny generated by your fees is spent on caring for your children. The Philosophy
We can sum it up in one word: quality. Our children are cared for by fully qualified and experienced nursery nurses; we don’t employ trainees and we don’t use volunteers. We strive to retain our staff and it shows in our record: fourteen of our current team have over ten years service with us. That doesn’t mean people come here to coast: some are encouraged to balance their duties with Higher Education courses, several of them have Advanced Nursery Nurse Training acquired during their time at Kelton, all have food hygiene qualifications and comprehensive training in First Aid.
We cater for children between 6 weeks and 5 years and new arrivals to the nursery are divided by age and cared for in separate rooms. This means activities and equipment are always age-appropriate, with rooms following their own timetable and curriculum. Within their group each child is assigned a keyworker who is made particularly responsible for their progress, spending quality time with them each day, assessing them and planning to meet their individual needs.
