At Kelton nursery we are serious about the health, safety, and welfare of everyone affected by our business – your children; our staff; parents; visitors; and anyone who comes to work in our premises, including our contractors.
Every year we have our gas, electric and water systems checked by independent experts, as well as our fire risk assessments.
We regularly audit our premises to make sure they are complying, not just with the law, but also our own higher health and safety and food safety standards. We achieve good food safety awards and we’re proud to advertise the ratings we get from Environmental Health Officers who inspect our site.
Security
The safety and security of your child is of paramount importance and access to the nursery is strictly controlled. The nursery is also equipped with CCTV which enables management to monitor who is entering and leaving the nursery during the day.
In addition all visitors to the nursery are asked to provide identification and to sign the visitors book on arrival. Our staff are very conscientious and are required to adhere to strict policies and procedures regarding the authorisation for collection of children.
All employees are record checked with the Disclosure and Barring Service and are also required to attend formal child protection training. This training is further supported by a fully trained Child Protection officer on site at the nursery.
The nursery also has a fully trained Health and Safety Coordinator to ensure nursery safety and security at all times.
We also believe it is our duty to teach the children in our care about safety and security. Activities are planned around safety and security in all rooms.
Fire drills
Fire drills are carried out every 3 months to ensure that staff and children know how to exit the building in the event of a fire.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
